Just popping in for a hello. I'm not back, but I miss y'all and doing what I did...
A quick update about me because why not:
In between medical stuff, I've been starting a Lego collection! It's been great, I've been having a lot of fun organizing and categorizing.
Collecting is an expensive as shit hobby tho lol

Unfortunately due to personal health reasons, I am going on an indefinite hiatus from all content creation.

On a Facebook post relating to a Muslim asking his Imam if he could pray for a "thick wife" and OP asking if there is rabbinic discussion about "thick" wives in the Talmud, (to which I responded with the story of R Elazar and R Yishmael in Bava Metziah 84a), someone asked "If an unmarried woman can hold a havdalah candle super high as a segulah for a tall husband, I can't see why there couldn't be some segulah for a thicc wife." ..... someone else responded with "thats how wide one should hold the torah during hagbah" which is frankly amazing

And to explain and translate:
A "segulah" is something you do in hopes of it effecting an outcome. Not prayer, but like, in the example given, a lot of young Jewish girls hold up the candle we ritually light on Saturday nights to symbolize the change from the Sabbath to the new week...
The belief is the higher you hold it, the taller your future husband.
And as for the response, Hagba is when the Torah scroll is taken out of the ark and held up for all in the synagogue to see.
It is a rather impressive feat to hold the Torah open wide, as you don't have
a support in the middle, you're simply holding up two wooden rods with a MASSIVE weight on each of them, sometimes incredibly uneven because the scroll is closer to the beginning or the end.
